National Clandestine Service
10.15.05 (6:35 am)   [edit]

The Director of National Intelligence, John D. Negroponte, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Porter J. Goss, yesterday announced the creation of the National Clandestine Service (NCS) at CIA.

The initiative will strengthen the direction and leadership of human intelligence throughout the Intelligence Community (IC). The plan reflects the thinking of some of the most seasoned veterans in human intelligence collection, men and women with decades of experience in the field.

In announcing this new approach, Director Goss said, "The decision to create the NCS at CIA underscores CIA's proud position as the center of gravity for HUMINT in our Intelligence Community. No agency has greater skill and experience in this difficult, complex, and utterly vital discipline of intelligence."

Goss added, "The announcement represents a grant of trust and an expression of confidence in CIA from the President, the DNI, and our partners throughout government."

Regret is alien to UFO abductees
10.13.05 (12:43 pm)   [edit]

Harvard University psychology researcher Susan Clancy thinks the chances are good that you know at least one person who claims to have been abducted by aliens. And she has another surprise: The people who tell these stories aren't candidates for the funny farm.

"They're not nuts," said Clancy, a postdoctoral researcher and author of a new book, the first to analyze the psychological underpinnings of abduction stories. "They're normal."

Not that Clancy gives any credence to the countless tales of horny aliens, UFO-borne medical examinations and intrusive probes of nether regions. No one, she said, has actually been kidnapped by extraterrestrials.

Another flying humanoid video. These things are really weird, but I find them fascinating. Are "aliens" starting to appear more often?

New Russian SLBM
10.10.05 (9:47 am)   [edit]
After years of failures, Russia has finally gotten a new submarine ICBM design that works. A Bulava ICBM (or SLBM, for Sea Launched Ballistic Missile) was successfully fired from a SSBN (nuclear powered ballistic missile sub) on September 27th. The 45 ton Bulava ICBM is a slightly modified version of the new land based Topol-M ICBM.

AOL Time-Warner censors Alex Jones websites
10.05.05 (1:04 pm)   [edit]

"Time Warner's ISP, Road Runner, has blocked access to all of Alex Jones' flagship websites across the entire United States.

"We were first alerted to this problem early this morning when several locals in Austin reported that they were unable to access Infowars.com, PrisonPlanet.com or Prison Planet.tv.

"Austin Time Warner had previously shut down access to our websites on a whim, claiming they were 'hate material' but in all cases had quickly restored them after receiving complaints.

"However, this latest attack on free speech is occurring nationwide, with Time Warner subscribers from New York to California reporting that their access to the websites is being blocked."
